Chocolate: Dangerous for Dogs

Chocolate has been and will always be a comfort food for all humans regardless of age and gender. It can be very comforting in times of depression and sadness, but for dogs? It can be very perilous. So let's see why chocolate is a big NO NO for your pooches.

CHOCOLATE contains Theobromine that can be fatal for dogs. It's a natural occurring stimulant  in cocoa beans and can also be found in tea and cola beverages.

Theobromine is a poison for every pooches, it can cause vomiting and abdominal pain at first, but as it goes it can cause an increase in urination, affects the central nervous system and the dog's heart.

As theobromine poisoning  continues, it can lethally affect your pooches, there'll be an increase in your dog's rate in breathing, excessive panting, urine may contain blood, hyperactivity, restlessness, muscle tremors, and seizures. Worst? DEATH.

So if you think that all sweets are good for your dog, then think twice. Always know your dog's limit when it comes to his/her food intakes.

Choosing a Dog Breed

Choosing a dog will be one of the greatest decisions that a man could make in his entire life, why? because at the first place having a dog is also having a big responsibility as an owner, just like parents having kids. There are lots of considerations you should think first before you'll decide to have a dog in your house just like your finances, can you afford to buy the needs of your pet such as foods, hygiene stuffs, toys, and vaccines? How about the people around your house? are they allergic with the dog's coat? etc. There will still be lots of factors and questions a man should consider. Think first before you'll  decide to have a dog.


But if you already have decided to have a pet dog you can now proceed to the question "What kind of dog breed that fits me best?" still in choosing a dog breed, you'll still end up having a question in your mind since there are lots of considerations you should decide. So, in choosing kind of dogs you should consider some the following points:

• Maintenance- If you can't afford to have it groomed in a dog salon or you're too tired in combing the dog's hair you should select smooth coat dogs or short-haired dogs. But if you have the budget for grooming services and you're enthusiastic in combing your dog's hair  you should select long-haired dogs such as Shih tzu, Pomeranian, and Maltese.
• Dog's Area- Dog's area must also be considered, if you are living in an apartment, condo unit, or even in a small house you should choose toy/small types of dogs but if you're in a big house or even in a mansion you can choose big types of dogs.
• Physical Activity- One of the most important things to be considered, if you love dog activities such as jogging and running you can always choose dogs which has enthusiasm with this kind of stuffs since  dogs need some exercise activities but if you would just like a walking exercise you can choose a dog which doesn't really need to run actively just like English bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Pugs.
• Size- Size really matters for dogs, because if you can't handle big dogs just don't do it, choose small dogs if you can't care for big breeds but you should also consider that small dogs are also vulnerable, mishandling small breeds can cause them injury.
• Puppy or Adult- In choosing doog's age, you must also think what best fits you. If you want your dog to really grow old with you since birth and if you can afford to buy stuffs for your pet try to choose puppies but if you are impatient in waiting for him/her to grow, it's best to choose adult dogs.

These are just some of the keypoints an owner should consider, just always remember and bear in mind that you should be responsible enough to take good care of your dogs and learn to love them unconditionally.

During the 19th century the Afghan Hound was discovered in the western part of Afghanistan. Way back then, they are being used to hunt for small creatures such as antelope, gazelles, and hares.They hunt not by scent but by sight and speed. With the ability of this pooch, they were referred as sight hound breeds and was believed as one of the oldest sight hound breeds in the world. Nowadays, Afghan Hounds are show dogs due to its sophisticated beauty, elegance, and characterized by its silky and fine coat with a curly tail at the end. The American Kennel Club used to describe this breed as an aristocrat because of its whole appearance.


CHARACTERISTIC
- This breed has manner since they stay being lovely and loyal toward their friends and companions. They have a calm spirit and patient attitude and is good towards little kids even they are big-sized dogs. 


APPEARANCE
- Thick, silky, and very fine coat. This breed also has a tail with a ring curl at the end.


GROOMING
- This breed has a long and thick coat, it needs to be brushed often times. They also need to be groomed with a minimal cut, if you still want your Afghans to have long coats. 


TRAINING/EXERCISE
- Since they are Sight Hounds, they need to have a daily exercise because they really love to run. Daily walking is also good for this breed. Afghan Hounds, however, have difficulties in training because they learn new commands slower compared to other dogs.
