Pawriffic 1st T'nalak National Dog Show

The first ever T'nalak National Dog Show was a success! It was participated by dog enthusiasts all around the country-- Manila, Cebu, Bacolod, Ilo-Ilo, Davao, our very own SOCCSKARGEN, Zamboanga, and many more! This great event were planned and cooperated by our hard-working and passionate South Cotabateños with the help of course of PDAA ( Philippine Dog Athletic Association).

The said event were composed of different competitions-- Dog Disc Competition, Dog Agility Competition, Fashion Show, and Dog Conformation.

This is just a kick-off for more National Dog Shows on the upcoming T'nalak Festival for the future years. Kudos South Cotabato!

First T'nalak Dog Show

It's been more than a year that I didn't post any articles and some sort of stuffs here on my blog. But now I have a good news to all South Cotabateños out there specially to all Dog Lovers. The Province of South Cotabato, in line with its annual celebration of T'nalak Festival, is fully equipped to launch its First T'nalak Dog Show 2013 on July 13-14, 2013 in South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center and in SMRAA Sports Complex Open Field. This will be a kick off event for more Dog Shows in the upcoming years of T'nalak Festival celebration. This Dog Show event will also have its special guests and best trained dogs from Manila, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, Zamboanga, and from our pride SOCCSKARGEN.

Animal Cruelty: Sad Ride

Just around this lunch time, as I'm scanning the facebook world while having a break, there's this post that really caught my whole being which is I guess a viral topic in the fb corners right now. A DOG IN A SACK BRUTALLY TIED AT THE BACK PART OF THE CAR (an SUV). Now where's the justice here? I'm not in a good mood as of this moment. Upset. Disturbed. Sad.

In my own opinion. The one who's responsible for this should learn a lesson by filing some criminal charges against him.

In my own opinion. Cases such as this act should have a heavier punishment so that, at least, it'll lessen the brutality cases here in our country.


In my own opinion. Justice for animals shouldn't be disregarded. And thanks to the Philippines Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) that they are already on their way in giving justice for this poor dog.

In my own opinion. People should also learn from this ruthless activity. Learning in a way that, they should treat their pets as persons, not as properties.

In my own opinion.  Animals have a right to life. They are also a LIVING creature, above all, a CREATION of God.

2012 New Dog Breeds were Introduced at WKC Dog Show

The new six breeds were introduced and at the same time were eligible to compete at the Westminster Kennel Club (WKC) Dog Show last February 13-14, 2012 at the Madison Square Garden since they've also been recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

The said breeds are as follows:

American English Coonhound

The American English coonhound is a descendent of the English foxhound and evolved from Virginia hounds. Originally used to hunt fox by day and raccoon by night, they were once called the English fox and coonhound. The breed is pleasant, alert, confident and sociable with both humans and dogs. The modern version of the dog is a speedy, durable and wide-ranging hunter. It is represented by the American English Coonhound Association. 

Cesky terrier

The Cesky terrier is a well-muscled, short legged hunting terrier that can be worked in packs. With natural drop ears and a natural tail, it is longer than it is tall and has a long, soft, silky coat that can be any shade of gray from charcoal to platinum.Lean and graceful, the dogs are reserved toward strangers but loyal to their owners and always keen and alert during a hunt.This breed is sponsored by the American Cesky Terrier Fanciers Association.

Entlebucher Mountain Dog

The Entlebucher mountain dog is a native of Switzerland and the smallest of the four AKC Swiss breeds. Prized for its work ethic and ease of training, this dog can easily switch from high-spirited playmate to serious, self-assured dog with a commanding presence. This is not a good dog for the casual owner because it needs so much socialization and will remain active and energetic all its life.

Norweigan Lundehund

The Norwegian Lundehund is also called the puffin dog. It spent centuries on the rocky cliffs and high fields of arctic Norway hunting and retrieving puffin birds, which was an important meat and feather crop to local farmers. This dog has at least six toes on each foot so it can handle the almost vertical areas where puffins nest. It also has a flexible skeletal structure that enables it to squirm out of tight spots or go spread eagle to prevent slips and falls. Today's version of the dog is an alert, cheerful and somewhat mischievous companion. It is represented by the Norwegian Lundehund Club of America, Inc.

Xoloitzcuintli

The Xoloitzcuintli is the national dog of Mexico and was previously known as the Mexican Hairless. It comes in three sizes and there is a coated version seen only in the United States and Canada. These dogs are descendants of the hairless dogs prized by the Aztecs and revered as guardians of the dead. Living in the Mexican jungles, they were shaped by their environment. Their intelligence, trainability and natural cleanliness have turned them into unique and valued pets. It is sponsored by the Xoloitzcuintli Club of America.

Finnish Lapphund

The Finnish Lapphund is a reindeer herding dog from the northern parts of Scandinavia. It is thought that this breed existed for hundreds, if not thousands, of years as a helper dog to native tribes. Today, they are popular as family pets in their native Finland. Devoted to their family, they are friendly with all people, highly intelligent and eager to learn. They are strong but very agile.They are represented by the Finnish Lapphund Club of America.

Koronadal City: Dog-A-Palooza!

Who said that only couples could celebrate Valentines day? Well, guess what? the City of Koronadal headed by the City Veterinary Office of Koronadal will initiate its first ever Valentine event for our lovely pooches called  "Dog-a-Palooza: Valentine's Day Celebration with Our Dog". This event will befall on February 11, 2012 from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Rizal Park, Koronadal City. There will be medical services for your pooches' health, picture taking with your dogs in a photo booth, and some sorts of giveaways.

So, inviting every dog lovers out there, around the city, and around the region to have a date with your dogs this love month. Let's have some fun with our pooches! Kanami Koronadal!

Tips in Treating Your Dog This Valentines Day

It's already February, and most people celebrate it as a month of LOVE. Since Valentine's day is fast approaching, lovers are so busy and excited buying flowers, cards, and chocolates for their love ones. But wait a minute! Who said that this event is only for humans? hey, it's also for our adorable and lovely pooches. So if you want to treat and pamper your dogs this Valentine's day, I'll give you some of my  own tips in celebrating it in a lovely way.

1. Have a walk with your pet in a park on Valentine's day. Have date with them while walking in the park. Remember that walking is also a part of a dog's exercise.
2. Give some gift for your pooches. Whether it's a toy, a dress, an accessory, or any dog stuffs.
3. Treat your dogs with special dog treats. But always bear in mind that overfeeding them is not good.
4. Visit your Vet for a check-up. Help your lovely dogs to stay fit and healthy.
5. Pamper your pooches in a dog spa or dog salon for a good groom and fresh bath. But if you don't have any budget for this, you can do this at home. A body massage will do.
6. Last but not the least, spend your time with your dogs. Play with them. Quality time is the best gift you can ever give to your pooches. 

Give your best in caring for your dogs because they too are giving their best in sharing their happiness and fun in your family. That's why they are called "Man's Best-friend".

Dachshund for Dummies

It's been a great day for me when I saw the book entitled "Dachshund for Dummies" I bought it in Booksale, KCC Mall of Marbel last few days. This book caught my attention because I also have a Dachshund pup and I guess this book will be a great help for me specially in understanding the traits and behaviors of my pooch.

I'm still not yet done studying and reading this book and so far this book gave me, somehow, a different perspective in understanding Dachshund breeds. Hopefully this dummy book will impart a greater knowledge and deeper apprehension as I continue to read this stuff.

Dog Tips: How to Deal With Your Pooches During Holiday Fireworks

New years eve is fast approaching and this is the time to make some loud noises and have some firework displays. However this may terrify and can cause great fear on your pooches, some will try to run away that may lead to serious injuries.

So I'll give you some tips on how to deal with your dog's fear in fireworks.

• Settle your dog early- few hours before the new year countdown prepare your pooches first, make some active exercises before the fireworks starts and since they will get tired and hungry you can feed them their meal, in that way your pooches will be more prone to drowsiness and will get to sleep. They will become less sensitive with the noise of the fireworks.
• Do not ease frighten dogs- Some owners tend to soothe and comfort their pooches when they see fear in their dogs faces. According to my research, this will just increase and reinforce their fear.
• Be in control- stay calm when you see and hear fireworks. Stimulate a calm spirit in you but if you fail to do this, when your jumping and shouting out loud when you see fireworks, this may just feed your dog's fear. Try to instill in your minds that our pooches are observing our body languages.
• Prepare your houses- if you're out in your homes, you should prepare it before you leave. Make a cool hiding place for your dogs and if possible close the blinds in your houses. If you have music players or television for your pooches try to turn it on so that they will change their attention and they may get distracted with the fireworks' loud sounds. Also bring with them their favorite toys or your clothes with your scent on them, foods ,and liquids.
• Bring your pooches in your Vets- for some serious cases, if your dogs have severe phobia in fireworks you should bring them to your Vets for some medications.

Scooby-Doo

Pluto
